*UPDATE – February 17, 2022
In January, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Throughout the treatment process, I will be using this blog to reflect, process, and share, so in a way the focus will shift. However, I don’t expect it to shift entirely, as women, work, and motherhood are all intertwined into this chapter too.
For those medically curious individuals —My diagnosis is Invasive Mammory Carcinoma. Thankfully, there is not evidence of spread or lymph node involvement. It is barely progesterone and estrogen positive and is HER2+. Because it is HER2+, I will start with 6 3-week rounds of chemotherapy, then surgery, radiation, and more HER2+ infusions for about a year. I do not have the primary breast cancer genetic markers. The treatment will take time, but the prognosis is good.

There are so many competing expectations placed on women — hello, notion of “effortless perfection.” This blog is a platform for exploring those expectations, while supporting and inspiring women to take care of themselves.
